U'16 SFAI Skechers National Cup (Last 32):
Villa 3-0 Cambridge FC (SDFL)
This was a hard fought win. We dominated the early stages but their keeper made 2 good saves .Then a lapse in our defense allowed the Cambridge centre forward through only to smash the ball off the crossbar and Scott made a spectacular save to keep the rebound out. We weathered the storm and some fancy footwork from Owen took him into the box where he was brought down for penalty .Dylan Butler slotted this home and we proceeded to make numerous chances until Shane O’Brien cut in from left and buried ball in back of the net. Half time - 2 nil. We started the 2nd half slowly and Scott made 2 great saves before Reishi pounced when a hesitant defender failed to clear and calmly slotted home for 3 nil.We were well in control and played some great football .Everyone played well as we contained Cambridge and created more chances.
The boys will now have a home draw against Cullin Lattin AFC (Limerick County Schoolboys League) in the last 16 of the competition.
Well done to all the squad and best of luck to Dylan Stickle ,Dylan Butler, Tony ,Hugo and Liam and Able who are all joining Waterford FC . We wish them all the best and we are lucky to have talented players to replace them.
Our U'14 Squad were beaten 3-1 against a very good Merville Utd team from Sligo. Best of luck in the next round boys.
Many thanks to all the parents who provided food for the after match hospitality in Connors Park today.
