Girls U18:
Tramore 1 - 2 Villa.
Scorers : Ebonie Casey & Hannah Burke.
League Champions !!!
We travelled to Tramore this morning to take on a very strong Tramore team in our final league game to see who would finish as league champions. After a bright start from us we went behind after 10 minutes when a great through ball was calmly finished by the Tramore winger. The girls reacted very well and created a number of chances before forcing an equaliser when Ebonie stabbed the ball home after a corner from Elena Gallagher. We had a half chance to take the lead five minutes from half time when Clodagh Curhams shot was saved by the outstanding Tramore keeper. Tramore nearly scored on half time when a deflected free force an outstanding save from Alisha. The 2nd half was end to end from both teams but our defence were outstanding with Ailbhe Munro, Amy Kehoe and Anesa dealing with everything that Tramore threw at them. We took the lead half way through the 2nd half when Clodagh passed the ball back to Hannah Burke who scored a fantastic goal from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance. Tramore pushed hard for an equaliser but all the girls including the substitutes put in a massive effort led by Elena and Sophia in midfield and Nancy up top. The girls hung on to secure a famous victory and a first league title for a Villa Girls team. Well done to all girls who have been great all season including Isobel and Izzy who were out injured today. Well done to all the squad and managers Damien and Pat on a fantastic achievement. Hard luck to Tramore on the day and well done to Referee Derek Butler on a fine game. Finally, it was great to see so many club members and parents out supporting the girls.
